Frequently Asked Questions | Buglas Birding Lodge & Nature Reserve
At Buglas we welcome travelers who enjoy nature, quiet mornings, and bird photography in a private reserve setting.
To help you plan your stay, here are the most common questions about check-in/out times, rates, meals, access, reservations, and basic house rules. If you need anything specific, just message us on WhatsApp and we’ll gladly help.
What time is check-in and check-out?
El check-in es a partir de las 14h30 y el check-out hasta las 12h00 del día siguiente. Si necesitas llegar antes o salir más tarde, avísanos y lo revisamos según disponibilidad.
What is included in the rate?
Your rate includes breakfast and a guided birdwatching walk inside our reserve, coordinated with the host. Wildlife activity can vary depending on weather and natural conditions.
Are rates per person or per room?
Our published rates are for two guests unless stated otherwise. If you’re traveling solo or as a group, message us and we’ll suggest the best room option based on availability
Do you offer meals besides breakfast?
Yes. We offer homemade dinners for an additional per person (unless we inform you of changes in advance). You can also choose to dine in town and visit local restaurants in Limón Indanza.
How do I confirm a reservation?
Your booking is confirmed once the agreed payment is completed or when we confirm your reservation by WhatsApp. We recommend booking in advance for weekends, holidays, and peak seasons.
What is your cancellation or date-change policy?
If you need to cancel or change dates, please notify us as early as possible. Late cancellations or no-shows may result in the first night being charged or the deposit being kept, depending on the reservation terms. In case of road closures or force majeure, we can help reschedule subject to availability
Do you allow pets?
We only accept dogs, with one condition: dogs must sleep outside the room, under the guest’s responsibility. This helps keep rooms in good condition and avoids disturbing other guests
Do you have house rules for the lodge and reserve?
Yes, simple rules to protect the experience and the natural environment. We ask guests to keep a quiet atmosphere, avoid loud music, do not smoke inside the rooms, and follow the host’s guidance on trails and viewpoints.
Is it safe to walk the trails?
This is a natural area. We recommend using proper footwear, carrying a flashlight if moving at night, and following the host’s instructions on trails and viewpoints. Trails can be slippery after rain
What should I bring for my stay?
We recommend hiking shoes/boots with good grip, a rain jacket or poncho, insect repellent, a flashlight, quick-dry clothing, and rain protection for your camera gear. If you take personal medication, please bring it with you.
How do we get there and what should we consider about access?
We are located in Limón Indanza, Morona Santiago. Before your arrival, we share the exact location and route recommendations. During the rainy season, travel time may vary due to road conditions, so it’s best to coordinate your approximate arrival time
Do you have Wi-Fi?
Yes, we have Wi-Fi. Since we are in a nature reserve area, connection stability may vary at times
